Did you know that the NDPR Academy Certified Master Course (the Practitioner Course) started today! It is a great opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of data protection in Nigeria and is designed to give you more detailed insights into Data Protection even beyond the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and from a broader and global perspective, with relevant case studies across the world. Upon successfully completing the Practitioner Course, you will have the wherewithal to take up Data Protection at a practice level as a certified Data Protection Officer.
The Guidelines for the Management of Personal Data by Public Institutions released by National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) on May 18 2020 particularly contains provisions for Public Institutions which are institutions that have government participation such as Ministries, Departments, Agencies and instructs these Public Institutions to appoint both a Data Protection Compliance Organization (DPCO) and a Data Protection Officer (DPO) on or before the 17th of August 2020. The Guidelines further provide that this appointed DPO is to undergo training within 90 days of his appointment on or before the 15th of November 2020. Taxaide Technologies Limited is a duly licensed DPCO and conducts its training on data protection through the NDPR Academy. If you are an organization that collects Personal Data from individuals, it is most recommended that you appoint a DPCO who will ensure your compliance with the applicable data protection laws in Nigeria.
