AUTOMATING THE DATA PROTECTION AUDIT PROCESS

AUTOMATING THE DATA PROTECTION AUDIT PROCESS

Hey there!

Thank God it’s Friday and welcome to another edition of Privacy Notes.

Data Protection is a big deal for any organisation. Study shows that about 62% of businesses globally experienced phishing and social engineering attacks in 2020 and the numbers are increasing day by day. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) mandates all organisations to carry out a Data Protection Audit. The Audit typically safeguards the rights of natural persons also known as a Data Subject to data privacy and ensures that Nigerian businesses remain competitive in international trade.

As part of the requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), Data Controllers and Administrators are required to file an Audit Report through a Data Protection Compliance Organizations (DPCOs) with NITDA on or before March 15th annually.

To this effect, iDAP® was created to allow electronic audit by DPCOs. This would be carried out in an efficient, paperless medium thus making the entire process more time and cost-efficient for all parties involved.

iDAP® aims to help Data Controllers (DCs) and Data Administrators (DAs) build and demonstrate compliance to the NDPR. iDAP® also intends to ease the use of the NDPR Implementation Framework published by NITDA.

Join our webinar on Tuesday 8th of December 2020 by 3:00 pm as we discuss “Automating the Data Protection Audit Process” with iDAP®.
